The smallest of the inhabited bay islands (about 500 metres wide and 2km long), Karragarra is a quiet spot with no shops, so if you go there, be sure to bring a picnic. There are plenty of sandy beaches, palm trees, pine trees, mangroves and rainforest areas, not to mention parks, picnic spots and plenty of places to swim. It was once called Rabbit Island.

Island hopping is an easy option amongst these Southern Moreton Bay Islands due to the regular water ferries which transport people from island to island. Macleay Island is the closest one to Karragarra and has shops, the popular Blue Parrot Restaurant  and the famous Bowls Club with the most spectacular view and a courtesy bus to collect and return you to the ferry. Russell Island is the largest of the Moreton Bay Islands and therefore has many businesses including a supermarket, clubs, hardware, cafe, doctor, taxi service, chemist and many more.

How to get there: Stradbroke Ferries run regular and reliable vehicle transport ferry from Redland Bay to the islands. Vehicular and passenger ferry crossings for the 15-20 minute crossing can be booked by ringing Stradbroke Ferries on 3488 5300 or online by visiting their website. Please don't forget to arrange the barge booking arrangements as early as possible to avoid disappointment. You can a also reach the island with a short water taxi ride from Redland Bay.
