Oak Beach

Oak Beach is a 1.5 km palm-fringed tropical haven with an inner coral reef at one end and World Heritage listed rainforest behind. There are only 25 beachfront homes on its 1.5 km of palm-fringed golden sand. Renowned for its privacy and exclusivity, Natalie Imbruglia was married at Oak Beach in 2002 and 24 Oak Beach Road was built as a retreat for Peter Allen. The locality prides itself on being on the same latitude as Tahiti.

Located 45 minutes north of Cairns and 10 minutes south of Port Douglas, Oak Beach is close enough to enjoy the major attractions of Port Douglas and Tropical North Queensland before returning to solitude and relaxation. Offshore is Garioch Reef. Thee reef was named after Mount Garioch which was named by Dalrymple in 1873 after a district in his native Aberdeenshire in Scotland.

Thala Beach Nature Reserve is at the northern end of the beach. The Reserve, on the Oak Beach side of Lookout Point, is a resort located on the private headland, offering a selection of unique accommodation options. The resort has achieved the highest level of Advanced Eco Certification. There are a network of marked walking trails throughout Thala's 58 hectares (145 acres). Guests are welcome to take self guided walks through the forest and enjoy the different vegetation. From native forest, to the palm grove, butterfly patch and mangrove forest, the terrain varies vastly.
