Unique gourmet produce

Tilba Club Cheese
Tilba Cheese is the most famous line of cheese produced by the ABC Cheese Factory, which is located in the heart of the picturesque historical village of Central Tilba. The factory was established in 1891 and was the first very first Cheese Co-op in NSW. Today Tilba Club Cheese is still waxed by hand and is sold exclusively through the cheese factory shop in 250 or 500 gram portions. There are a wide variety of rare cheeses available that are unique and absolutely delectable. Some include Summer Herb, Applebox Smoke and Italienna along with the vintage and other common flavours. If you are travelling in the South Coastal region of NSW, the short diversion off the Princes Highway (near the Bergagui turn-off) to Central Tilba and its twin, Tilba Tilba - two villages frozen in time - is well worth the effort.

Mrs. Oldbuck's Pantry Rhubarb
and Ginger Jam

A visit to Berrima in the New South Wales Southern Highlands would not be complete without spending time in Mrs. Oldbucks Pantry, the original famous jam shop on the corner of Old Hume Highway and Jellore Street in the middle of town. Alongside the superb, subtly flavoured jams (there are an incredible 39 varieties to choose from), toppings, honeys, mustards, sauces and chutneys, they stock 110 teas and a range of contemporary gourmet products, including marinades, dressings, mayonnaise, olive oil, exotic spices, olives and a range of speciality confectionery.

Treat Factory Chilli Chocolate

The cafes, antiques, boutique shopping and gourmet delights of the Illawarra town of Berry are a magnet for Sydneysiders, particularly on weekends when they flock in droves to the picturesque locality for a relaxing day out. Just out of town is the aptly named Treat Factory, where it's very easy to spend a couple of hours drooling over the 50 lines of handmade chocolates and confectionery, or the 200 varieties of conserves, assorted loose leaf teas, exclusive drinking chocolates, flavoured nuts, comer, preserved fruits and local honeys, gourmet baskets and hampers. It was here that I first encountered chilli chocolate. It's not a combination of tastes that I would have put together, but it works a treat, if you'll pardon the pun.

Your Experiences ...

Has there been a gourmet food supplier you have visited whose produce you have found to be totally yummy? If so, we'd love to hear from you. Tell us a little about the product and the place when you came across it. You can either write the review yourself (feel free to send pics of the product), or simply advise us of the product and its manufacturer and we'll follow it up ourselves.
Our preference is for unique products that are not available at regular outlets across Australia, particularly those which are either unique to their locality or are made with ingredients unique to their locality.
