If you are considering travelling across part of Australia, no matter how long or short your journey might be, this section of the website is for you. Here you can explore the many journeys you can choose from to enhance you travel experience, or perhaps even take a holiday where the main feature is the journey itself rather than the final destination. Use the menu on the left of this page to check out some the novel, different and downright unusual ways you can take to get from A to B.
Where half the fun is getting there
In our busy, modern-day world where we expect everything to happen instantly, travel time is so often seen as an inconvenience and a waste, rather than an opportunity to take it easy, relax, stop and smell the roses. By catching the plane, we miss so many opportunities to see and do things at all the places along the way.
I recall the first time I took a driving holiday from Sydney to Cairns. When I told certain friends of my plan, all they could think of was the number of days lazing on the beach that would be lost by taking so much time getting to my destination. But by driving all the way, I not got to visit a lot of places that I'd heard of (like The Whitsundays) but had never been to, I also visited a lot I'd never heard of, the discovery of which became the highlight of the trip.
I ended up travelling practically the whole Pacific coast of Queensland, it only took me only a week but gave me a little taste of everything on offer, from which I was able to determine which destinations I'd like to return to for a longer stay at some time in the future.
Because of its size and diversity, Australia has an amazing variety of journeys that can be embarked upon. They utilise various methods of transport and cater for every budget and time restriction a traveller might have. Use the menu at left to sample some of the journeys we've taken or discovered in our travels.
