Sunshine Coast Hinterland: this is a most spectacular scenic drive and a 'must do' day-trip if you are holidaying on the Sunshine Coast. The twisting and often awe-inspiring road is full of surprises, not the least are the views to the coast and the Glasshouse Mountains. No matter what your interest - art galleries, food, wine, coffe, shopping, rainforest walks, waterfalls, views - you'll find it all here. The Blackall Range Tourist Drive starts from the historical township of Landsborough and ends in the foothills near Nambour. The Blackall Range is just over an hour's drive north of Brisbane.

The Scenic Rim: An arc of spectacular mountains lying from south of Beaudesert to the area south west of Ipswich, the Scenic Rim is situated within Australia's Green Cauldron which stretches from Byron Bay to the Gold Coast and west towards the Great Dividing Range. The sheer size of the caldera is breathtaking and shelters a huge diversity of rare flora and fauna, and subtropical rainforests within the rim of mountain ranges.

Bunya Mountains: One of the most picturesque reserves on this section of the Great Dividing Range, the Bunya Mountains National Park protects the largest remaining Bunya Pine rainforests in the world which densely cover the mountainous slopes. The mountains are the only outlying section of the Great Dividing Range, rising abruptly from the rich Darling Downs & South Burnett farmland. 24 km of graded walking trails have been formed in the park, giving access to its spectacular lookouts and waterfalls.

Moreton Bay Tourist Drive: The Moreton Bay Tourist drive meanders throughout some of the most beautiful areas of the mainland of Moreton Bay and coastal suburbs of Brisbane. Ferries to St. Helena, North Stradbroke and Coochiemudlo Islands can be accessed from this drive (allow a full day for each island you plan to visit).

Multi Day Drives

Sunshine Coast (5 days)
The first leg of the itinerary takes you all the way to Bundaberg, where you can explore the Great Barrier Reef and the surrounding National Parks. Two days, drive south to Hervey Bay, the whale watching capital of Qld. On day four, you will drive to Maroochydore, and explore the beaches and attractions in and around this popular city before returning to Brisbane.


National Parks of South-East Queensland (10 days)
An extended version of the 5 day Sunshine Coast itinerary for those with more time. Additional places to visit include the Glasshouse Mountains, the Blackall Range and 2 days on Fraser Island.


The Whitsundays (10 days)
Beginning and ending in Brisbane, this itinerary takes you through the Glass House Mountains, up the coast to see the turtles and rum of Bundaberg, and Airlie Beach, gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and the Whitsunday islands. On your return to Brisbane, fish for Barramundi in Gladstone, head down to Hervey Bay, the best place to see a humpback whale; and then explore the beaches of Maroochydore.


Bribie Island & Caboolture: A drive through this coastal region takes in the northern extremity of Brisbane's Moreton Bay and Islands across to Bribie Island with its Donnybrook, Toorbul and Beachmere townships, sweeping around to Deception Bay. More >>

Moreton Island: the second largest sand island in the world after Fraser Island, Moreton Island is a wonderful holiday destination on Brisbane's doorstep. The island is blessed with untouched scenery, crystal clear lakes and lagoons amongst tall sand dunes, abundant wildflowers and pristine beaches. Here you can hand-fed dolphins or dive or snorkel amongst the mysterious wrecks off Tangalooma and colourful coral reefs around its shores. The adventurous can try quad biking, four-wheel driving or sand tobogganing, or just swim or laze on the beach and watch the silhouettes of fisherman as they cast their lines into the surf in the lingering twilight.

St Helena Island: Australia's own Alcatraz situated 4 km from the mouth of the Brisbane River, St Helena Island was once a colonial maximum security prison.
