A small farming community in the Avon Valley.
Location: 132 km east of Perth; 33 km south east of York.
Origin of name: named after Beverley, a town in Yorkshire, England, by the Colonial Surgeon, Charles Simmons.
Brief history: land at Beverley was set aside for the townsite in 1830. The town was established in 1838. It became a major transport terminus for a short time as it was here that the Great Southern Railway stopped in 1886. For three years, passengers had to switch from rail to road coach at Beverley until the rail line to Albany was completed.
