BINALONG BAY, TASMANIA


A small settlement too the north of St Helens, Binalong Bay is noted for its rock and surf fishing. Beyond is the Bay of Fires (see below), a large expanse of untouched coastline, lines with clean, white beaches and are punctuated by picturesque granite outcrops covered in orange litchen. Bay of Fires: A place of tranquil beauty full of clean white beaches and rocky bays, the internationally recognised Bay of Fires is situated between Eddystone Point and Binalong Bay on the far north-eastern corner of Tasmania. One of Tasmania's most popular tourist destinations, this 29-kilometre ribbon of sea, surf and sand is renowned for its island beach culture, cosy cottages and nature walks, not to mention its natural beauty - the bay's blue water, iconic orange hued granite (which is actually a lichen), white sandy beaches and fishing lagoons.
