Historic town on the shores of Lake Nagambie. A number of wineries are situated in the area, including Mitchelton, Tahbilk and Preece. The local winemakers sponsor the Goulburn Valley Vintage Weekend on the third weekend in March and the Shiraz Challenge on Melbourne Cup Eve. As a child, the famous Australian cyclist Hubert Opperman attended Bailieston School here.
