A small former mining town were gold was struck in the 1860s. Ninety years after the original find, gold nuggets worth $20,000 were found in the backyard of a local house. Spurred by local claims that more than 80 per cent of all the major gold nuggets found in the world have been discovered within a 40km radius of Wedderburn, fossickers continue to flock to this Calder Highway town in Victoria's famed Golden Triangle.
