There's only one way to get your business onto the screen of your clients' mobile devices, and that is with an App. There are two kinds of Apps available - Mobile and Web. Mobile Apps are quite costly to build, take up a lot of storage space on a mobile device and each App will only work on a single operating system, eg. Android or iOS. By comparison, Web Apps are inexpensive, take up very little space on a mobile device, and operate across all platforms (Android, iOS, Windows, BlackBerry etc).

Building Your Web App

As Web Apps are viewed on small screens and come into their own as digital calling cards, we have developed a simple, efficent but effective design that can be adopted to most applications and industries. This design includes a bank of buttons giving one-touch dialing of your phone number, access to your website or a particular page on it (order form), email facility if required and a "Get Directions" button giving users both visual and spoken directions to your business premises from wherever they are. Other buttons can be added to fulfil your requirements.

We recommend you also add an Pocket Oz Directory button, giving the user access to the Australia-wide Australia For Everyone Travel and Information Network which covers all states, cities, towns and regions of Australia. Wherever they go, they will have information about where they are at their fingertips. There is no cost for your App to be linked to the Network, and once your clients discover it and begin to use it, they are unlikely to delete your App in a hurry!

Separate Tablet and Smart Phone Web Apps

Like a website, an App translates differently on the screen of a tablet to that of a smart phone. If required, we can create two Web Apps - one for each device - which contain the same information and have a similar look and feel, but have been optimised for viewing on different sized screens. The correct Web App for a device's screen is automatically selected when the Web App is opened. Additional production charges apply.

Hosting Your Web App

Like a website, Web Apps must be hosted on a server. We can host your Web App, or it can be hosted separately with its own domain name. Either way, you will be provided with the App's URL (web address) of the download page as well as QR codes which can by scanned mobile devices to access the download page. Additional hosting charges apply where a Web App has its own domain name.

Add Facebook for free

Your Web App can have your Facebook page emedded into it at no extra charge. As you update and change your Facebook page, users automatically see the updated information every time they open your app.

Your Web App can include a "Find Me" directory at no additional cost. Part of the Web App's home screen, it gives the location of the nearest public toilets, ATMs, petrol service stations, shopping centres, pharmacists and many more services wherever they are in Australia or right across the World. The directory also gives one-touch access to the latest news, weather, sports results and much more.

What is a Web App?

A Web App is simply an icon that can be placed on the screen of any mobile device. The icon is linked to a website page - when the user taps the icon, the website page to which it is linked opens in its own window. Downloading a Web App to any make or model of electronic device is quick and easy. Users don't even have to go to an app store - they simply follow the simple instructions on the web page they wish to download a link to.
