Townsville and The Great Green Way
The Great Green Way is the name of the tourist drive between Townsville and Cairns. Many visitors to the region go only to one destination – this tourist drive encourages visitors to hire a car and visit the lesser known but equally interesting places found between the two regional centres.
The Great Green Way is an area of outstanding natural beauty in Far North Queensland, including two World Heritage listings of the Wet Tropics Rainforests and the Great Barrier Reef. The area has over 25 tropical islands off its coast, over 12 mainland National Parks, and it is the closest mainland access in Queensland to the Outer Barrier Reef.
