Snow Skiing on Ben Lomond

Ben Lomond National Park lays claim to being Tasmania s premier ski resort. The ski village facilities are on the Ben Lomond plateau. The Village is set at the foot of the ski slopes and the ski runs are not as steep or fast as some of those in other resort, however the lack of crowds, the stunning scenery and the diverse wildlife make this a memorable alpine experience. Cross-country skiing and snowboarding are very popular. The Ski season opens in early June and closes in late September.

Regional Drives

Driving a motor vehicle is the easiest way to get around Tasmania and its surrounding area, particularly for visitors. You can hire a car in all the major cities and towns of Tasmania, or you can bring your own car to Tasmania via the Spirit of Tasmania ferry from Melbourne. There are few parts of the state of interest to visitors that can't be reached in motoring comfort, although lesser roads, whilst sealed, do tend to be narrow. The roads on Tasmania's east coast are generally quiet, and as they mainly follow the coast, are easy to drive on. We have selected six regional drives to and around Tasmania's east coast that will assist those who want to explore the region in detail.
