Driving across the Nullarbor Plain is for many the quintessential experience of the Australian Outback. It travels along one of the safest outback roads in Australia, with accommodation, cafes and vehicle repair facilities at regular intervals along the way.

The Savannah Way, Qld/NT/WA
One of Australia's ultimate adventure drives, The Savannah Way traverses the top end of Australia, linking Cairns in Tropical North Queensland with the historic pearling town of Broome in Western Australia, via the natural wonders of Australia's far north. Some sections of the road are suitable for 4-wheel drive vehicles only, but others are sealed, making it possible for anyone with a motor vehicle to complete sections of the drive.

Gt Northern Highway, WA/NT
Great Northern Highway is the original inland route from Perth to Darwin. It takes travellers through wildflower country, the Yilgarn Goldfields (Meekatharra and Cue) and past the Hamersley Ranges before reaching Port Hedland, where it joins Highway 1 and heads north through Broome and the Eastern Kimberleys to Katherine. An alternate route between Perth and Port Hedland is Highway 1 which follows the coast via Geraldton, Carnarvon and Karratha, passing turn-offs to Kalbarri, Shark Bay, Exmouth, Coral Bay (Ningaloo Reef) and Karijini National Park.

South West Corner, WA
A holiday destination known and loved by West Aussies for decades, the beauty of the south-west corner of Western Australia - and Australia - only came to the attention of the rest of the country with the development of the Margaret River wine region in the 1980s. Here there are surf beaches, rocky headlands, forests of giant karri trees, limestone caves, wineries, timber milling towns and farming communities.

Eastern Goldfields & Great Southern, WA
This round trip from Perth takes travellers to all the sights of the southern regions of Western Australia. It follows the coast south from Perth through the South-West and the Margraret River district to Albany. From Albany it heads east to Esperance, before heading north of Kalgoorlie and the towns of WA's Eastern Golfields. It returns to Perth via the Eastern Wheatbelt towns of Merredin, Cunderdin and Northam.

Gibb River Road, Kimberley region, WA
A back road from Derby to Wyndham and Kununurra, Gibb River Road gives access to some of the Kimberley region's most spectacular scenery and geographical features. The road has stretches of bitumen but is mainly gravel. It is suitable for two and four wheel drive vehicles when conditions are good, but in rainy or cyclone seasons, four wheel drive is essential.

Southern Kimberleys, WA
Starting and finishing in Broome, this trip takes travellers to all the inland natural wonders of the Southern Kimberley region. Included among the attractions visited are the towns of Derby and Fitzroy Crossing, and the natural wonders of Windjana Gorge National Park, Bell Gorge, Tunnel Creek (photo left) and the beautiful Geikie Gorge before returning to Broome. A 4wd only trek which involves roadside camping.
