Whilst all regions of Australia have attractions of interest to visitors, there are some with so many attractions of similar appeal spread over a large area, the region as a whole is a tourist destination, rather than a specific town, village or natural feature within a region. These are the major tourist regions of Australia, where it is best to base one's self at a particular location and then travel from town to town to visit the region's attractions.
