Holidays on Horseback

For those who love horseriding, a holiday on horseback is a wonderful and satisfying experience if chosen wisely. One could call it Equi-trekking, but that word isn't in the dictionary. "Equi-trekking" would be a good verb though; it's descriptive. "Horseriding" is too general, "trekking" isn't necessarily done on horseback. Horseback riding adventures, trail riding, hacking, could be anything.
Equi-trekking accurately describes covering a good distance astride a horse non-competitively.
Equitrek Australia is a company that specialises in Equi-trekking all over Australia, in the Outback and in comparative wilderness for days or stay closer to civilisation. Equitrek Australia is a past finalist in the NSW Tourism Excellence awards.
Equi-trekking offers adventure, companionship, beautiful scenery and physical, mental and emotional involvement in the environment. Part of the Australian image is the rugged Outback, vast open spaces bathed in fierce sunlight with the wide blue sky adding to the quality of light.
Equitrek Australia's accommodation ranges from a swag under the stars, to tents, shelter huts, cabins, shearers quarters, comfortable stations or cosy inns and luxury resorts, the choice is yours. Cost varies from $A200 per day fully catered, to $A600 for special arrangements.

An example of Equitrek Australia's rides is their trek through the Snowy Mountains of southern NSW. These rides are held in the summer months from October through to April and run anywhere from 3 to 15 days. These rides are accessible from Cooma Airport. One of the Snowy Mountain rides caters for people who prefer to camp out most nights and travels mostly within the Kosciusko National Park; the other offers the comforts of a soft bed each night, and the riding happens on mountain farmland outside the Park. Both rides offer great scenery and wildlife sightings are quite frequent.
There are also good rides on the Victorian side - like a wonderful packhorse ride in the Mt. Bogong area; it is a 5 day total camp-out mountain experience. The season is very similar to the rides on the NSW side.
