Bedarra Island

Bedarra Island and Dunk Island lie off the Australian east coast, opposite the town of Mission Beach. The islands form part of the Family Islands National Park and is in the larger Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. The island is surrounded by reefs and has a diverse population of birds. Aborigines once used the island as a source of food. Europeans first settled on the island in 1897. Dunk Island was used by the Royal Australian Air Force during World War II.

Bedarra Island Resort was forced to close following it sustaining major damage in Cyclone Yazi on 3rd February 2011. The island was subsequently sold and the resort rebuilt. Bedarra comprises just eight private villas hidden amongst 45 hectares of tropical rainforest, offering solitude, privacy and sublime views over the turquoise waters of the Great Barrier Reef. With a maximum of 16 guests at the resort at any time, you are guaranteed a sanctuary of seclusion and solace.

The open terrace restaurant, bar and lounge are the heart and soul of Bedarra, where guests converge to indulge in a delicious and ever-changing menu or at the legendary open bar. An exquisite menu (that changes daily) is matched only by the sublime beauty of uninhabited beaches fringed by lush rainforest.

East Bedarra Island Retreat offers luxurious beachfront accommodation to couples, honeymooners or those simply wishing to escape into a private island paradise with a loved one. Please note, all accommodation at East Bedarra Island Retreat requires a minimum 5-nights stay.
